New Hobby

I really wanted to participate in this week's Sew & Show, so I am going to jump in head first.  I bought an awesome pattern from Dana over at MADE and then learned an amazing technique by An over at StraightGrain.
This has by far been my favorite piece I have made.  Since the fabric came with the pattern along the sides I decided to split the bodice and put in the irregular pleats.  I also use the center of the fabric as the liner.

I purchased the fabric over at Fabricworm and the fabric is Alison Glass, Handcrafted 2, Plume Pewter

I love how it fits her and how cute she is in the top, I believe it is called a peplum tunic.  I just wish she was more willing to stand still and let me get a good picture.

See what others are sewing over at this weeks Sew & Show.

  1. That fabric is really eye-catching! Great top!

  2. Very cute! Love the fabric you chose and it looks adorable on her. Great job. :)

    1. Thanks Stacy, that is a huge compliment coming from you. I have followed your blog for many years and longed to do the stuff you do and finally have gotten the nerve up to try sewing (other stuff besides square blankets). Having a girl also helped push me too. I just don't like a lot of the clothes in the stores and the ones I do I can't afford. I am finding you can get nice fabric and put in a little time and get a nice end product- one of a kind too.

  3. This is lovely and I know what you mean about trying to get the little ones to stand still...

  4. I love this top! Great fabric, and pleats works really well with it. Your daughter is daring. Funny, I just sewed up the First Day dress too, and was thinking about a top version next. I wish my daughter would wear the fabric like that, but she would not want gray... She may stands still, but has strong opinions on what she wears ;o
